Youth & Government

North Carolina's thriving Youth & Government program engages young people to help shape public policy

The program is led by its motto, "Democracy must be learned by every generation," and is best known for its flagship programs: Youth Legislature (grades 9-12) and Middle School United Nations (grades 6-8).

Teens can join Youth & Government through a Youth & Government club at their high school throughout the state of North Carolina. Teens write bills, then debate them in a model legislature complete with delegates, judges and members of the press at the statewide conference held annually in February in Raleigh.

Teens interested in learning more may contact Amber McClure, Statewide  at amber.mcclure@ymcatriangle.org at YMCA of the Triangle.
